How it works

One partner from part number to delivery.

A technology order runs through the same three SMIT services as any other trade.

01 · Brief

Specify

You share brands, models or part numbers, configurations and quantities.

02 · Sourcing

Source & verify

We identify suppliers and manufacturers, verify them and negotiate price and terms.

03 · Sourcing

Inspect

Quality inspection support confirms the goods match your specification before they ship.

04 · Trading

Document & ship

Import and export coordination, trade compliance, documentation and shipment management.

05 · Expansion

Grow

For technology brands entering new markets: market entry strategy and partner connections.

Rules to know

What makes technology different to trade.

General guidance for buyers and suppliers. Requirements change, so confirm them for your product and destination before you ship.

UAE · TDRA

Telecom type approval

Devices with radio, cellular, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth functions are regulated telecom equipment in the UAE. Commercial imports need TDRA type approval and a TDRA customs clearance permit for each shipment.

Middle East Briefing, Feb 2026
UN 3481

Lithium batteries

Lithium-ion batteries packed with or inside equipment, such as laptops, ship under UN 3481 and are regulated as dangerous goods for air transport, with Class 9 labelling.

HS codes

Classification

Computers fall under heading 8471 and their parts under 8473, network and telecom apparatus under 8517, and integrated circuits under 8542. The exact code depends on the product, so confirm it with your customs broker.

Export control

Licensing at origin

Some technology, such as products with strong encryption or advanced semiconductors, can need an export licence in the country it ships from. Share the end use and destination early so this can be checked.

Region

Regional versions

Power supplies, plug types, keyboard layouts and radio frequency bands differ between markets. Specify the version you need, not only the model.

MPN

Exact part numbers

The manufacturer part number identifies one exact product. Quoting against it, rather than a description, avoids look-alike substitutes.
